New duo Al and the Upstart are set to shake up South Grafton next Friday night.

Al and his seasoned Upstart head South

Al and the Upstart is an unplugged duo featuring Alan Hughes on mandolins, guitar, vocals and Michael Willis (The Bourkenbacks) on vocals and percussion.

This acoustic team play an eclectic repertoire from soul (Marvin Gaye, Solomon Burke) to rock 'n' roll (Stones, Kinks, Beatles, Buddy Holly) with some country (Amazing Rhythm Aces, John Prine) and folk (Jesse Winchester, Donovan, Dr. John) thrown in for good measure.

There would be few better ways to spend a cruisy Friday evening in South Grafton than in the room with the best views of the Clarence River, the main lounge at the Ex-Servicemen's Club, for a free show with a talented duo picking the tunes and singing for your enjoyment.
