Alby blows opposition away with sensational bowling spell

JUNIOR CRICKET: Yamba junior Alby Popko has returned incredible bowling figures of 4 for 0 off just three overs at an U14's T20 match last week.

The haul is all the more impressive given that Popko was playing up an age grade.

Yamba U14's manager Simon Dougherty said it was a fantastic bowling spell.

"It's a great result, and given that he is one of the younger kids playing in that division, he has done very well," he said.

"Week in week out he is incredibly consistent.

"He plays U12's on a Saturday, but due to the shortage of junior players in Yamba he plays up in U14's as well.

"It's a great effort, an incredible result."

Alby's mother Marina said Alby was very excited about his bowling figures.

"He has had some other great bowling figures this season too, but this is very exciting," she said.

"As a parent, I'm very proud to see him bowl well, and hopefully he can take it further.

"At the moment he is just having fun playing cricket."

Marina said her son's bowling technique has come from playing with his father out on the front yard.

Yamba U14's went on to win the match.
