ANZAC REVERENCE: Students gain deeper understanding

STUDENTS at Maclean Public deepened their understanding of the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women when the school held its Anzac Assembly last week.

Special guests from the Maclean RSL were Mr Kevin Jones and Mr Dennis Noel. Mr Jones spoke about the history of our military and peace keeping forces and he also presented a cheque for $100 on behalf of the Maclean RSL to our school captain, Neeve Fischer.

This generous donation will be used to purchase books for our school library.

The assembly was very moving with beautiful performances of ANZAC songs by both the junior and senior choirs.

The school’s string ensemble played Pachelbel’s Canon while students placed their Anzac tributes at the school’s memorial table.

School captain Patrick Moore’s playing of The Last Post on his trumpet was stirring. The morning was a fitting tribute to the brave souls who fought for our freedom.
