$2.5m development

A NEW townhouse development will bring a little more opulence to Yamba, according to developer Greg Bate.

Yamba Properties will construct the three-story, eight-townhouse development, which will be built on Harbour Street, opposite the Calypso Caravan Park and next door to SPAR Supermarket.

The overall cost of the development will be more than $2.5million, while each townhouse is expected to sell for between $600,000 and $900,000. Mr Bate, director of Yamba Properties, said the two blocks of land, which are zoned medium density, would take full advantage of the location.

"All the units will have views of the bay and the river," he said.

"It's your typical new complex, and will feature a swimming pool and a barbecue area."

He said the design would remain true to the beachside style architecture of Yamba, while providing a wider range of options for the higher-end of the market.

"We were looking to start (construction) this year ... we're a little bit behind (because of other projects) but I'd say hopefully the latter part of this year we'll com- mence," he said.
