A $1.7m facelift

A $1.7 million development, including offices, shops and parking, is set to replace the Gerards Centre after it closes next month.

The development application for the project was submitted to the Clarence Valley Council on April 13 and is now being assessed by council officers.

The development combines two separate ground floor car- parks with shops facing Fitzroy Street and two offices above. The building facing Prince Street will remain as is.

Council town planner Scott Lenton said he thought there may be some submissions opposing the project.

"It could delay the process a bit so I really can't give you a date when it could be approved."
