A special year
THE Grafton High School first form class of 1952 must have had something special in their diet.
Three women who started at the school in that year or joined subsequently, later became Jacaranda queens.
They will be together again this weekend for a 'long overdue' reunion of former schoolmates.
Former queen and co-organiser Barbara McLennan (nee Burgess) said she expected about 150, including between 95-100 former students and teachers, to attend.
"We couldn't get in contact with 60 or 70 of them and, at last count, about 40 had passed away, so we are pretty pleased with the number attending."
She said former students from Tasmania, Northern Territory, Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales would be attending.
