A table for two

By EMMA CORNFORD

IT WAS incredibly long. So long in fact, that it took a forklift and 14 of Grafton's strongest men to manipulate the 10.3-metre slab of blackbutt through the window of Roches Hotel yesterday morning.

It ended an eight-month project to create what could be the world's longest table made from a single slab of timber.

That's what Greg Ryan, who helped to organise the project, claims. But even if it misses out on the Guiness Book of World Records it is an impressive sight.
