Appeal raises $4500 for Mikayla

THE Mikayla Pollington Appeal in Grafton at the weekend managed to raise nearly $4500 for the cancer-stricken youngster.

And that total could rise in the next week as a statuette which did not sell at auction on the day is sold on internet auction site ebay in the hope of raising over $500.

Held on Saturday at the South Grafton Bowling Club, and organised in conjunction with the Grafton Lions Club, the program featured lawns bowls, raffles and auctions.

Event organiser John Hall said Mikayla's family was astounded with the support they received.

"Mikayla's mum was just overwhelmed," he said.

"She was presented with a cheque for the money at the end of the day and she was overwhelmed by the result and the help from the community.
