Applications sloppy

A REPORT to the Clarence Valley Council suggests processing times for development applications are being affected by substandard submissions from applicants.

Council is looking at an estimated value of development works received since July 2005, worth over $80million.

The average process turn-around time for applications is about 27 days.

In his report to council, director of environment and planning, Rob Donges said 'there was a significant problem with the quality of information and plans being submitted'.

"(This) is a result of basic statutory requirements not being met, or plans either not addressing council's adopted engineering standards or being of a quality that does not allow proper assessment," he said.
