Beach names

THEY are the beaches without names.

Diggers Camp Beach, Sandon Beach, Jones Beach, Minnie Water Back Beach, Minnie Water Beach, Freshwater Beach and Wooli Beach might be familiar names to Valley residents but, until now, have not been officially recognised. That may be about to change.

A committee of the Clarence Valley Council will today consider asking the Geographical Names Board to name the beaches officially.

The council was told the Solitary Islands Marine Park Authority that some of the names used for beaches in the area were not recorded by the Geographical Names Board or in any topographic maps relating to the subject area.

The authority raised no objections to the names being adopted.
