Bennett back at the Buccaneers? helm

The Yamba Buccaneers have appointed club stalwart Andrew Bennett as first grade coach for the upcoming season, club president Daryl Rock announced earlier this week.

Rock said Bennett's appointment was an exciting development for the club as they prepare for their second season in the Far North Coast First Grade competition.

"Andy brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the club after previously coaching at Inverell and Kyogle," he said.

"He has coached Yamba three times previously when we played in reserve grade and he took us to the finals on all three occasions so we are delighted to welcome him back into the coaching fold."

Bennett's appointment comes after a huge 2005 where he was awarded the Far North Coast Rugby Union President's Award for services to rugby, Yamba club secretary and Under-18 coach.

Rock said Rob Imeson had been reappointed as the club's fitness adviser, while former third grade captain Paul Rheinberger will take over the coaching reins of Thirsty Thirds.

Mitch Angelo and Adrian Hall will coach Under-18s.

Rock said pre-season training with Imeson was already underway, with a number of players turning out keen to get a jump-start on the season.

He invited everyone interested in playing for the club this year to meet Imeson at Turners Beach from 5.30pm on Thursdays.

Rock said training at Yamba Oval would commence in February.
