Big bucks for waterfront
PRESTIGE properties continue to be in high demand throughout the Lower River, with many high priced houses and blocks of land on the market.
And it's not just the major centres of Yamba and Maclean attracting interest, with properties at Palmers Island and Micalo Island also creating a stir.
PRD Nationwide principal and selling agent for the $2.8million Palmers Island property, Denise Gillies, said it was another example of what the area can offer.
"It has extensive river views ? you can see the river from almost all areas of the house ? and it offers a fantastic lifestyle opportunity," she said.
LJ Hooker Maclean principal John McConnell said a property sold recently on Micalo Island, just outside of Yamba, was an example of affordable river frontage housing.
"It's one of the best spots on the river, which many people didn't know about - it's a little bit of heaven," he said.
Mr McConnell said the block sold for $440,000, with the location attributing to most of the cost.
Mike Macqueen First National sales and marketing consultant Ben Hennessy said two properties in Angourie were also attracting interest after a nearby block sold for $1million.
"One is a redevelopment site with a little cottage on it at the moment, with three three-bedroomed DA approved town houses," he said.
"Price expectations for that block are around the $900,000 mark."
