Big field for nine council jobs

VOTERS should have a field of around 24 candidates to select from when filling out the ballot paper for the Clarence Valley Council election.

On March 5, voters will hit the polls to decide who will make up the inaugural nine-member Clarence council.

Clarence Valley Council returning officer Ray Endean said the Grafton State Electoral Office yesterday was inundated with nominations at the last minute.

The call for nominations closed at 5pm sharp yesterday.

Councillor nominations, including group ticket entries, will be formally declared tomorrow.
