Bill and Ina tango through 60 years of marriage
By JULIA ILES
"IT takes two to tango and if you have problems you can always work them out."
These are the words of Bill Beggs, who today will celebrate 60 years of marriage to his wife Ina.
"I am a very, very lucky man to have such an understanding wife and I am also lucky that she puts up with me," the 78-year-old said.
Bill met Ina after he had returned as a merchant sailor and taken a job at Peak-Freams Biscuit Factory in Sydney.
Ina worked there packing the biscuits, while he took them out of the oven.
"I used to hang around her all day, everyday and we just clicked," he said.
They were married on January 21, 1946, which was a weekday at All Hallows Church at Dry Dock.
"It was an exciting day with all of our friends and family, I remember being very happy but we didn't have too much back then and just made our own fun," Ina said.
Since then they have had three sons, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
"Marriage is about being compatible and trying to help each other through the bad times," she said.
