Bus window smashed by school tie

STUDENTS from two Clarence Valley high schools had a bit of a shock on their school bus on Wednesday afternoon, after a window shattered.

One McAuley Catholic College student, who was on the bus at the time, said students were whipping the window with their ties to see how loud they could go.

"We flicked it and suddenly it just went 'smash' and the glass shattered. It went everywhere and all over us," he said.

"I didn't think a tie could do that to a window ? it's not very safe. I mean, what if someone had a fight on the bus and pushed someone up against a window? I wouldn't like to see the end result of that."

The vehicle, which was travelling down the highway, pulled over and students were moved onto another bus to complete their journey.
