A MAN was in a critical condition in Lismore Base Hospital last night after a truck rolled over onto his car.

The car and the truck careered down an embankment, following a three-vehicle accident on the Pacific Highway at Shark Creek.

Emergency services crews worked for around half-an-hour to free the man from his car.

He was rushed to Maclean District Hospital, before being flown by helicopter to Lismore at around 9pm. Police said no-one else was seriously injured.

Police also said a man had been arrested in relation to the accident, however no other details of the arrest were available.

Details from the scene were sketchy, but it is believed the accident happened around 150 metres south of the Shark Creek bridge, just after 7pm.

A third car involved in the accident came to rest at the top of the embankment.

The Pacific Highway was still closed at the time of going to print, with police setting up detours at Brushgrove and Maclean.
