Centrelink cheat made to repay $34k



YAMBA resident Ross Donald Martin has been ordered to repay Centrelink $34,336.22 after pleading guilty to numerous charges in Maclean Local Court earlier this week.

Martin pleaded guilty to two charges of obtaining financial advantage from Commonwealth entity, four counts of engage in conduct to obtain financial advantage from a Commonwealth entity and six counts of knowingly obtaining payments not payable.

He is due to be sentenced on June 13.

The charges arose from incidents dating from July 2000 to October 2005.

The court heard Martin claimed Newstart allowances while he was employed by the NSW Department of Education
