Clowning around for a good cause

CAROL Ordish caused a bit of a stir as she walked down Prince Street last week.

And it was not just because she happened to have a rainbow slug on her head and was guiding a clown holding a large bucket.

Mrs Ordish had donned the slug and her partner in fundraising, Sue Rollings, got into the clown outfit in a bid to raise money to help build a well in Cambodia.

Mrs Ordish is the co-ordinator of 'Team Cambodia' ? a group of Valley residents who will head to Cambodia in the new year.

The team needs $1500 to drop the well in a village and is looking to people of the Clarence Valley for support.

"When we walked the streets we raised $500 in the one morning which was excellent so ... we're hoping to be able to get the rest. We're a third of the way there," Mrs Ordish said.

"The reaction from people as we walked around was really wonderful. I stopped and explained to them all about the well which will provide clean drinking water for a whole village, and people were really good."

The team leaves the Valley in January and is looking for any donations before then.

To help build the well, contact Mrs Ordish on 6643 4371 or her husband Paul at Life FM on 6643 2660.
