Yamba surf lifesaver

YAMBA lifesavers Alyce Bennett and Jacob Lollback were winner of major awards at Surf Life Saving Far North Coast's (FNC) 2004/2005 Annual Dinner and Presentation Evening at Ballina on Saturday.

Bennett was named the FNC female competitor of the year for outstanding results, including vic- tory in the NSW Under-19 ironwoman championship at the State tiles at Umina Beach during March.

Lollback, named Far North Coast top male competitor, won the State Under-17 years iroman championship and was second in the Under-17 board race final, also at Umina.

Earlier in the season the duo collected nine gold medals between then in the Far North Coast Branch Championships at Fingal, represented the Far North Coast in the NSW Inter-Branch championships at Soldiers Beach as well as representing NSW Country on a competition tour of New Zealand.

Their trainer, Jim Dougherty, was a contender for the FNC Coach of the Year finishing as a runner-up to highly successful Byron Bay mentor Glen Lawrence.
