Colourful exhibition by schools

MCAULEY Catholic College won first prize in the high school section of the Lower River Dance Eisteddfod yesterday with a rousing rendition of Watch You Waiting.

The Maclean Civic Centre was packed with mums, dads, grandparents, brothers and sisters ? there to cheer on the more than 300 participants.

Adjudicator Delores Dunbar said the competition between the schools was amazing.

"I'm completely blown away by it," she said.

"It's not something you would see in a Sydney school and I would like to congratulate all parents and teachers for the costuming, as well as choreography."

In the infants section Gulmarrad Primary School won with an old classic by The Proclaimers, while in Year 3/4 Yamba Public School took the honours with Alice in Wonderland.

St James Primary, Yamba won the Year 5/6 section with Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Compere Debrah Novak said the standard of competition this year was unbelievable.

The eisteddfod was the best of all in which she had been involved.
