COASTAL VIEWS and Daily Examiner photographer Deb Novak has been named the APN 2005 country and community photographer of the year.

Ms Novak was awarded the prize at the first annual APN Readership awards on Monday night in Brisbane.

"I was invited to attend last week and I was only told I was one of the finalists in the awards so it was very exciting," she said.

"Lots of the APN management were familiar with Coastal Views and spoke of it very highly which was lovely."

The judges praised Ms Novak's work as being 'impressive not only in its technical quality but also the creativity and news sense of the images'.

The APN awards were open to employees of APN papers in Australia and New Zealand.

Ms Novak entered a folio of shots from her work at Coastal Views. This picture was taken last year at a Babies Dance Class at the Adele Lewis School of Dance in Maclean.
