CRCA selections in chaos for key game



THE Clarence River Cricket Association (CRCA) representative team goes into tomorrow's interdistrict game against Nambucca Bellingen at Ellem Oval, Grafton, knowing it must win to secure a spot in the final.

Team captain Andrew Firth says injuries and player unavailability has disrupted team preparation.

"Rohan Hackett injured his back in the game on Thursday (against the visiting Canterbury team) and will miss Saturday and Sunday," Firth said.

"Bob McKenzie is unavailable and Sean Ulrick has come in for him.

"We will have to pick a couple up out of second grade."

Firth said talented young players Matt Hartmann and BJ Purser have been selected to play second grade after promising performances in the game on Thursday.

Wicketkeeper batsman Hartmann was second top score for CRCA with 36 and Purser, in his first senior representative game batted solidly for 23.

CRCA will play Nambucca Bellingen in first and second grade tomorrow. The second grade game is at McKittrick Oval.

Play in both games commences at 10am.
