CRCA wields axe for SCG Cup game

SELECTORS have rung the changes for Sunday's first round SCG Country Cup match between the Clarence River Cricket Association representative team and Lismore at Oakes Oval on Sunday.

Clarence River senior selectors reacted to last Sunday's trouncing at the hands of Lower Clarence by axing batsman Bob McKenzie and Shaun Ulrick. All-rounder John Holmes is out with a knee injury.

The indications are that his club and interdistrict season may well be over with medical reports due today.

Selectors have included opening batsman Trevor White, all-rounder Matt Peterson and talented leg spinner/left hand bat Brad Robertson.

Clarence River will be led by veteran Tony Blanch who has a young but very talented combination for this do-or-die clash against a very strong Lismore side.

The wicket at Oakes Oval mostly is a batsman's delight and it is in this part of the game that Clarence must show more dedication at the crease, which was not the case against Lower Clarence.

In the bowling department Clarence will be well served by left-arm quick Rohan Hackett who proved a handful in last Sunday's clash.

His support bowlers, Andrew Firth, and Nathan Blanch will need to bowl a tight line against the home team.

Clarence spinners Tony Blanch and Matt Kroehnert really took a hammering on Sunday, but with Brad Robertson's inclusion with his right arm leg spinners may well help contain Lismore.

Transport to Lismore will be by bus which leaves Ellem Oval on Sunday morning at 7.15am sharp. All players are required to travel as a team to Lismore.

CRCA life member Peter Ryan will be team manager for this match.

The team is: Tony Blanch (c), Andrew Firth, Matt Kroehnert, Nathan Blanch, Brett Woods, Michael Summers, Matt Hartmann, Rohan Hackett, Matt Peterson, Matt Ryan, Trevor White and Brad Robertson.

Umpires for this match have been appointed by the Zone Committee. Both umpires have ACB Accredita- tion and are from the Lismore area.
