Cutting returns to Grafton

by Leigh Pritchard

FOR the first time in 10 years the Big River Cutting Club show will be held in South Grafton.

Hawthorne Equestrian Park will host a cutting show today from 8am with prize money up to $6000 across the classes.

Big River Cutting Club spokesperson Stefan Wielebinski, of Ramornie, said the club usually held three shows a year and at Copmanhurst.

"We have had 116 entries from Queensland, Sydney to Goondiwindi," Mr Wielebinski said. He said it was one of the most athletic horse sports.

"Once you select the cow you let go of the reins and the horse does the rest itself," Mr Wielebinski said.
