Donations sought for cancer fight

WHEN a colleague lost her daughter to cancer, staff at Grafton??s Road and Traffic Authority (RTA) office decided to get behind the cause, creating an annual fundraiser in aid of CanTeen, a charity that supports young people living with cancer. This year the RTA has opened ??Sarah??s Scarf and Craft Day?? to the public, and is calling on the people of the Clarence Valley to donate handmade items to help raise funds. Denise Dawe, regional staff amenities officer of the RTA recreation club northern region, said donated items would be sold in markets in Sydney, with all proceeds to go to CanTeen. ??Last year we raised $10,000, so we??re hoping the people of the Clarence will help us increase that figure to support a worthy cause,?? she said. ???Anyone with handmade items to donate is asked to drop them off at the RTA office in Fitzroy Street, Grafton, or contact Denise Dawe on 6604?9391.
