A MAN was allegedly assaulted and had his car stolen at Yamba on Sunday night after two men invaded his Yamba Road home.

Police allege the 22-year-old victim had an altercation with two 20-year-old Yamba men, who then assaulted and intimidated him before making off with the Holden Commodore.

Police were notified of the incident and the car was allegedly detected by police soon after, headed towards Maclean at the corner of Yamba and Southbank Road at Palmers Island.

Police said although the two men were not driving the vehicle, they were found in the car and were arrested and taken to Maclean police station. They were both charged with aggravated robbery, robbery in company and being in a vehicle allegedly stolen.

The two men faced court yesterday morning and were refused bail. They will appear in Grafton local court again on March 21. Police said investigations into the incident were continuing.
