Exciting rugby concept for Yamba

A SPECTACULAR day of rugby is planned for Yamba Oval today with the inaugural Pacfic Hotel Yamba Rugby Invitational to be held in the town.

The invitational concept has been developed by the Yamba Rugby Club to showcase the best of local and neighbouring rugby talent.

The pre-season competition will feature the Pacific Hotel Yamba Buccaneers, the Grafton Redmen, Mid Coast premier side Coffs Harbour and the strong Central North side Inverell.

The day kicks off at 1 pm when the Buccaneers play the Redmen in a local derby which will set the scene for the afternoon's activities.

Teams will play two 20 minutes halves of 15-a-side rugby.

Buccaneers president Daryl Rock said the day will provide five hours of excting first grade rugby, giving supporters a taste of the upcoming season.

"It is great to host a full day of quality rugby that has not been seen on the ground since we hosted the successful day of grand finals here last year," he said.

"This concept allows teams to fine tune their sides prior to the season."
