For a rainy day

YAMBA may be a destination renowned for its gorgeous beaches and outdoor recreational pursuits but it also boasts a wide selection of indoor activities.

After the recent four-day deluge that swamped the Clarence Valley, the realisation couldn't be more timely.

The Yamba Chamber of Commerce wants local businesses to cash in on indoor pursuits through a new 'rainy day activities' brochure.

Chamber member and owner of Fletchers Photographics, Tanya Williams is heading the initiative.

"This was an idea I had after the rain we had in January, where there was a turn in retail," Ms Williams said. "After the week of rain, it really hit home that we need to promote ourselves not just in terms of our beaches but in other ways.

"We have a lot to offer in the form of art galleries, dining, retail outlets, indoor sports, entertainment (movies) and pampering services."

She said chamber members would get free inclusion in the brochure, which is planned for Easter.
