Galaxy of hockey stars
By LORETTE HARGREAVES
LAST weekend the Valley's hockey fans saw a great show in Grafton with the Under-15 girls half state championships.
Our representative players came closer than pies and peas to taking out a title.
Our division one team was runners up and our second division outfit came third.
nTHERE were many Stars of the Week this week, practically forming a constellation. Our Under-15 girls did us proud, with special mention going to Taleah, 'Twinkle Toes,' Gillespie, Angela Payne and Sarah, 'Love Your Work,' Thomas for making the northern half state representative team.
Our administrators, ably led by Cheryl Kinnane and Peg James ensured a hugely successful event and clubs' assistance with the catering roster was also greatly appreciated.
ONE senior player was recently overheard talking about the number of candles on her birthday cake.
Family and friends came to warm themselves by the immense heat emanating from the candles and passers by were alerted to the potential for bush-fire.
JUNIOR coaching clinic is being held on July 4 with Brent Livermore and other prominent hockey heroes being involved.
Places are limited, so if you're interested contact the association as soon as possible.
New Vets players are required to submit their identification photos to Chris Danvers urgently, either via the Demons' pigeon hole at the pavilion or by dropping them off at the RTA.
THOSE interested in obtaining their C Badge for umpiring are urged to contact Cheryl Kinnane to sit the upcoming exam on July 11.
