Get me to the races on time

THE second day of the Grafton July Racing Carnival yesterday attracted its usual mix of families, serious punters and people just out to soak up the atmosphere
However, for Yamba couple Michael and Christie Harris, the day will always be that little bit more special.
The couple were married on Pilot Hill, Yamba, early yesterday morning, before a small breakfast reception. In the afternoon they joined 80 family and friends, and thousands of others, in perfect winter weather at the race track for South Grafton Cup day.
Mrs Harris said the day had been an excellent start to married life.
"We've had a great day here, it's been completely stress-free," she said.
Mrs Harris said the July Racing Carnival would always hold special meaning for the couple.
"Michael is a local Grafton boy so the carnival has always been a bit special for him," she said.
"It's probably the best time of year to have held the wedding and it's been a really nice, enjoyable day."
But the Harris' were not the only ones enjoying the afternoon.
Judging by the big grins on some punters' faces after Song Time crossed the line first in the South Grafton Ex-Servicemen's South Grafton Cup, many went home with a bit more in their pockets than hoped for.
