Goat show first for Valley

SATURDAY'S goat show in South Grafton brought together agriculturalists from all over the region.

For the first time the Valley hosted the NSW Country Branch Show, which was held at Hawthorne Park.

"It went really well and had a huge turn-out," Janelle McAlpine, secretary of the Clarence Valley Goat Keepers Inc, said.

"Usually we just have the goat exhibition at the normal show, but we're hoping it will become an annual event."

In total there were 215 entries with a range of sections for bucks, cashmere, full blood and cross-bred Boer goat classes. Winners of the best exhibit and champion doe were Noelene and Ted Dean from Bonville. For the champion buck category Peter Ross of Uki won the award.
