Grafton into final

GRAFTON's representative hockey team, led by Australia's Olympic gold medal winning men's hockey captain Brent Livermore, have powered into the final of the NSW State Championships at Newcastle.

Playing in B division as a result of last year's knockout, Grafton defeated Southern Highlands 5-nil to reach the final against the winner of the Newcastle No.2 and Penrith semi-final, which is scheduled for 1.10pm today.

The team has been in sparkling form.

After defeating Dubbo 10-nil, Grafton scored a 8-1 win over Sydney No.2 then beat Newcastle No.2, 5-2.

"With Brent (Livermore) leading them and Robbie Green and Peter Kelly, the young players in particular have really stepped up to the mark," manager Chris Blanchard said.
