GRAFTON 'Primary' School now has more to boast about than its academic record ? it is also the namesake of a pair of Australia's best up-and-coming musicians.

A duo called Grafton Primary has emerged with high rotation airplay on Triple J. The musicians are brothers Josh and Ben Garden, both former Grafton Primary students. Although the pair left Grafton in 1985, they do have fond memories.

"I do remember a nice peaceful place which has the Jacaranda Festival," said Ben.

"The name came about because it's where both of us started our lives."

The duo formed in Ben's apartment in Sydney earlier this year when the two musicians decided to collaborate.

Since then they have released four songs on their myspace website which has received more than 2700 hits.

Grafton Primary recently released an EP, 2020 vision, which they are hoping will nab them a record label signing.

Ben and Josh said they returned to Grafton last year. They checked out their old house in Bacon Street ? a far cry from where they spend most of their time now, playing at some of Sydney's biggest nightclubs.

Grafton Primary School these days is known as Grafton Public.
