Grafton to host major pistol shoot

THE best practical pistol shooters from across the state and country will converge on Grafton on July 8 and 9 for an IPSC State-sanctioned open practical pistol match.

The Grafton Pistol Club will host the event.

After many weeks of preparation, all participants are anxious for the action to start.

"It's taken us about three months to get everything right," Grafton IPSC pistol discipline captain Robert Tucker said.

"The venue here is first class ? it's the number one country range in the state. We have eight ranges here set up with 12 different matches, and the competitors are some of the best on the east coast of Australia. The standard of competition will be extremely high, and we're expecting a really challenging shoot."

More than 65 entries for the event have already been received, including participants from Queensland and Victoria.

Competition starts at 8.30am on Saturday, and concludes Sunday afternoon. The Grafton Pistol Club, located at 30 Old Lilypool Road, is 3km south of the South Grafton crossroads on the Pacific Highway.
