Gunners shoot for final

SOUTH Services Grafton Gunners GI Hotel will play Corindi this Saturday at Rushforth Park at 2.30pm in the final of the premier league competition.

A win will give the Gunners the right to play Orara in the grand final the following Saturday at Rushforth Park.

Coach Ken McKenzie has highlighted that commitment and control of the soccer ball is crucial to winning the game.

"Any 50-50 balls must be ours and work of the ball is essential," he said.

"If we do these things right and think about the basics of the game, we will be three-quarters of the way there and then slotting our chances away."

The loss of father and son, Tony and Nathan Blanch, is a major blow and an injury doubt over Matt Cameron would put more pressure on the side, but whoever comes into the side will give 100 per cent.

The likey squad is: keeper Nathan Adamson, sweeper Mick Duroux, stopper Steve Challinor, left back Chris Powell, right back Danny Zietsch, centre midfield Brad Grieve and Darren McMahon, left midfield Matt Cameron, right midfield Brodyn Hirst, strikers Phil Hirst and Andrew Laverty, Mick Skinner.
