Hamburgled: thieves nick from sick kids

IT is one of the most cowardly acts possible stealing from children.

But two young bandits did just that on Sunday morning when they stole the charity donation box from McDonald's in South Grafton.

The money was destined for Ronald McDonald House Charity, which helps care for sick children and their families.

Restaurant manager Brent Roulstone said the bandits struck at 1.30am, walking through the drive-through area, ripping the box from the wall, leaving a gaping hole.

Mr Roulstone described the act as 'heartless'.

"I just couldn't believe it when I found out," Mr Roulstone said.

"Although it was just coins, the money they stole would have gone to helping sick children; some from this very area use the McDonald House."

"These kids just didn't think twice."

Mr Roulstone said they would have a new charity box installed in the next few days.

"We have some CCTV footage of the incident which we have forwarded onto the police," Mr Roulstone said.
