Yamba Public School girls netball team have qualified for the finals series of the state-wide PSSA Knockout competition.

The Yamba team has made the last eight equalling its feat of four years ago.

The finals will be staged at Penrith on Tuesday, October 18.

Last week the team defeated Cudgen Public 39-11 to claim the Far North Coast title with a dominant performance.

"The girls are stoked to have made the finals and so am I," coach Jill Newberry said.

"They have been shooting very well, their defence is getting better and they are linking well through the centre.

"I don't like singling out individuals but as a unit they have combined very well.

"Everyone is looking forward to Sydney."

To get to the finals Yamba defeated Iluka, Maclean, Grafton, Lismore and Cudgen.

The team is: Leyla Ferguson, Alana Lavender, Tayla Withers, Angie Carney, Taylah Francis, Chloe Walkinshaw, Briony Helisma, Emily Hardman, Brooke Lindsay, Gemma Cahill.
