Hotel employee attacked during attempted robbery
POLICE are appealing for public assistance following an attempted robbery at a South Grafton hotel in which an employee was injured.
It is believed the Good Intent Hotel was the scene of the offence.
At around 10am on Wednesday, the employee was walking to his vehicle and was approached by a man in the hotel's front carpark.
The man demanded the employee hand over a sum of cash. An altercation took place and the employee was injured by the offender.
The would-be-thief then got into a Toyota Hi Ace van and drove away.
The vehicle was later recovered and a number of items were seized for forensic analysis. Police said they would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries into the incident. The man is described as having a dark complexion and slim build. At the time of the attempted robbery he was wearing a grey sloppy joe with a hood.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or been in the vicinity of the hotel on Armidale Road on Wednesday morning and saw anyone acting suspiciously, to contact them on 6642 0222 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
