How hot is our city? Plenty

TRADITIONALLY seasons herald in a type of weather ? the woolies come out in winter while spring and autumn are transitional.

But in Grafton from 2000-2005 hot weather has rolled over the seasonal divisions.

Even throughout the late autumn and winter months such as June, July and August, temperatures remained fairly mild. In June 2002 weather was recorded in the 30s, while in July 2000 and 2004, the mercury rose to temperatures above 25C degrees.

nThe hottest monthly temperature for Grafton in January was in 2004, where it reached 43.7, while in February of the same year it hit 42.1.

n2002 recorded 39 degrees, the highest temperatures for March, while 32.1 was recorded as the hottest for April in 2004.

nIn 2003 the maximum temperature for May was a warm 29.6 and for June 30.5 in 2002.

nBoth 2004 and 2000 recorded the highest for July as 26.2, while 2004 reached 30.8 in August.

nFor September, the warmest day was in 2003 and reached a whopping 38.3, while in October both 2004 and 2005 recorded 38.

nNovember reached 41.5 in 2002 and the hottest day in December was 42 in 2004.

n2004 was a year of extremes as it had five of the hottest maximum temperatures but also recorded some cold days.

nThe lowest temperature in July 2004 was a bone freezing -2.2, while in June was -2 and August recorded a -0.2.
