Injuries haunt Ghosts

By Tony White

"If only we could keep the same team on the paddock for a couple of weeks," lamented a Grafton Ghosts supporter midweek.

Injury has again hit the Ghosts before Sunday's clash with Cudgen Hornets at Frank McGuren Field.

Second-rower Shaun Davison is out with a sternum injury, hooker-half, Jason Vidler, taken to hospital with breathing difficulties after last week's 44-10 loss to Kyogle will miss the match as will forward Aaron Marscham who is expected to seek further medical treatment after suffering continuous headaches.

Only five players ? Chris Adamson, Phil Warby, captain Matt Michael and lock Josh Ryder ? remain from the side that comprehensively beat Lower Clarence in the opening round of the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition.

Talented Don Dickson must also come through unscatched from Friday nights representative fixture at Oakes Oval, Lismore.

Jon Winters comes in for Davison, Chad Cassidy will play hooker with Trent Barber returns to halfback after missing the Kyogle match due to commitments in Sydney.

Troy Mortimer comes into the side on the wing.

GRAFTON GHOSTS: Fullback, Chris Adamson; wingers, Troy Mortimer, Doug Daley; centres, Phil Warby, Kyle Walters; five-eighth, Don Dickson; halfback, Trent Barber; props, Matt Michael (c), Scott Kilduff; hooker, Chad Cassidy; second-row, Mitch Cooper, Jon Winters; lock, Josh Ryder.
