Is there anyone willing to get in ring with the Hurricane?

LOCAL amateur boxer, Kyle 'Hurricane' Hands has had five opponents cancel on him in recent times and is frustrated organisers can't find him a bout.

"This last guy I was going to fight was a black belt in karate but had only had one fight for one loss," Hands said. "But he rang up and cancelled because of work commitments.

"It's disappointing. I've dropped ten kilos, I've been training every day and I was looking forward to the fight.

"But these things happen.

"When you're fit, you're enthusiastic. I have been enjoying the training and have been doing some quality sparring."

Hands has been training in the boxing ring with former Australian champion and Coffs Harbour local, Justin Clements.

"I'll still be training generally," he said. "I want to have a six pack by Christmas."

The 32-year-old Super-heavyweight stands at 6'5 but said he is primed to fight and hopes to be in the ring before the Nationals which will be held in Hobart in December.

Hands said that because of the recent training he had been doing he had lost ten kilograms and now weighs 120kg.

But trying to find other fighters in his weight division is a major challenge.

"They just don't stay in it for very long. If they get a flogging, they don't stay in it.

"Even a guy who beat me in my last fight, and who said would fight me again, doesn't want to anymore.

"But I'm as fit as a fiddle and I'm ready to go."
