Jessie?s $4500 gift to Iluka

CLARENCE Valley Council mayor Ian Tiley has paid tribute to long-term Iluka resident Jessie Brown for her generosity in improving the village.

Mrs Brown last year donated almost $4500 to council to provide an additional shelter shed and seat for the Iluka Bay area and seating at the village's columbarium, the wall where ashes of the deceased are placed.

While opening the facilities, Cr Tiley said Mrs Brown had made similar donations in the past to the former Maclean Shire Council.

Now Mrs Brown's generosity has given visitors to Iluka Bay foreshore and Iluka columbarium somewhere to sit and contemplate the beauty and serenity of Iluka, the mayor said.

Council was pleased to be able to work with Mrs Brown and the community in installing these new facilities.

They are already proving to be popular additions to the amenities provided within the village.

The mayor said people like Mrs Brown helped make the Clarence Valley a special place.
