Kara stars for her State
SOUTH Grafton High's talented cricketer Kara Sutherland has starred for NSW during the Women's Under-15 National (outdoor) Championships in Melbourne.
Sutherland was a member of the NSW team that beat Victoria in the final of the Australian Championships from December 11-15 to win the Christina Mathews Shield.
The outstanding youngster's bowling performance proved pivotal.
Opening the bowling, Sutherland took the most wickets for NSW, second most in the competition and attained the best bowling average.
She was also voted equal third in the Player of the Championships Award won by NSW's Sarah Coyte from Campbelltown.
This year's win was the fourth by NSW.

NSW v South Australia ? NSW 4/279, SA 10/34. Sutherland, 0 wickets for 9.
NSW v ACT ? NSW 7/177, ACT 10/65 ? Sutherland, 4-2.
NSW v Victoria VIC 3/116, NSW 4/118 Sutherland, 2-17.
Final: NSW v Victoria ? NSW 3/167, Vic 10/84 ? Sutherland, 2-12.
Games were 35 overs with each bowler allowed a maximum of seven overs.
Sutherland's overall figures were 22 overs, 6 maidens, 8-40.
Coyte had an amazing tournament, scoring 150no in game 1 and 106no in the final which gained her Player of the Championships.
Due to the extremely strong NSW batting, Sutherland did not bat throughout the Championships.
