Knife-wielding reveller gets 3 months jail

THE MAN who threatened a couple with a knife at a CBD taxi rank after the Grafton Cup was sentenced to three months jail in Grafton Local Court on Monday.

Rodney Paul Cutmore, 47, appeared in court facing charges of assault, having custody of a knife in a public place and breach of bail conditions.

According to a police incident report lodged with court documents, the victims of the attack left the Crown Hotel and headed for the Pound Street taxi rank around 10.30pm.

Cutmore approached the couple at the taxi rank where the male victim told him, 'don't pull out the knife' before Cutmore said 'I'm going to stab you' and began reaching into his jacket pocket.

Worried for their safety, the couple left the taxi rank before locating police nearby.

Cutmore was found in possession of a black-handled steak knife and taken into custody. He will be eligible for release on October 14.
