Labor big wigs hit Yamba
by Tony Walker.
POLITICIANS are sometimes a misunderstood lot, their personal lives often overshadowed by the scrutiny of their public performances.
The world might be aware of former US president Bill Clinton's prowess with a saxophone, but that probably never helped him in a delicate diplomatic situation.
However, even some Labor Party diehards may be unaware that their foreign affairs spokesman, Kevin Rudd, is fluent in Mandarin and keenly interested in Australia's relationship with China.
Today Mr Rudd will join Labor representatives from all three tiers of government at the Yamba Bowling Club between 10am and 3.45pm for Country Labor's regional assembly forum.
Mr Rudd will address party members from the federal electorates of Page, Richmond and Cowper in the morning session.
ALP Vice President Warren Mundine will host the proceedings which will also feature Federal Richmond MP Justine Elliot, State Member for Tweed Neville Newell and Senator Michael Foreshaw.
