Lang?s silver lining


SOUTH Grafton's Daniel Lang rounded off a highly successful Australian Championships regatta for Clarence Valley rowers by snaring a silver medal in the Championship Schoolboy single scull event in Penrith, Sydney.

Lang's silver in the 2000m event behind West Australian Adam Setoka was the highlight on the final day of the week long Championships on Sunday.

Fellow North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS) rower Kane Ramon, from Lower Clarence Rowing Club was 6th in the final.

Lang and Ramon were the only two rowers from NSW to make the six-man final from an original field of 35.

"There were some very encouraging performances and we're already planning for the next Championships in Tasmania," NCAS coaching co-ordinator Colin Lang said.

nWomen's Under-17 single scull ? (Nicole West, Ashleigh Peppernell, Rachael See, Ash- leigh Adams) made semi-finals.

nWomen's Under-17 double scull ? both crews (Nicole West/Ashleigh Peppernell) and (Rachael See/Ashleigh Adams) made semi finals.

nWomen's Under-17 coxed quad scull ? (Ashleigh Adams, Rachael See, Nicole West, Ashleigh Peppernell, cox Steffanee Colgrave) finished 6th in final.

nMen's Under-19 single scull: Daniel Lang made semi-finals.

nMen's Under-19 double scull ? (Kane Ramon/Marty Hemphill) made semi-finals.

nMen's Under-19 quad scull ? (Lewis Hemphill, Kane Ramon, Daniel Lang, Marty Hemphill) 4th in final.

nSchoolgirl Coxed Quad Scull (Melissa Bowling, Rebecca Zaffino, Jessica Sims, Ashleigh Peppernell, cox Steffanee Colgrave) ranked 8th in Aust.
