Let's work together

I CONSIDER the following to be the most important election issues: Health: I have developed a plan which aims to improve the electorate's health facilities, health services and improve access to services for those in need. We need to upgrade our emergency departments to meet the required standards. We need to make plans to build a new Grafton hospital in the medium to long-term. Maclean Hospital is in need of a secure, strong room and I have secured a commitment from the Iemma Government for a Yamba Health One Facility. I also advocate the expansion of community health services to Iluka.

Sewerage: I have secured a commitment from the Iemma Government to guarantee funding to the Yamba augmentation, Maclean/Townsend, Ilarwill and Wooli sewerage schemes.

Preschools: I will push to increase the financial base for community preschools to make them more affordable for families.

Industrial relations: I will continue to oppose WorkChoices, which has decreased the average real wage in NSW and will reduce the value of pensions. n Public service: I have signed the PSA pledge to protect the jobs of our hardworking nurses, teachers, police officers and other public sector workers.

Water: I oppose the diversion and/or damming of the Clarence. I support measures to recycle water including the $1500 rainwater tank rebate.

Police: I will ensure that Clarence continues to receive its fair share of new officers. n Roads: I support the upgrading of the Pacific Highway to dual carriageway standard. Let's work together to get the best for Clarence.
