Little A hat-trick for Cody

By TONY WHITE

LOCAL star Cody Attwater has been named Grafton Little Athletics Club Athlete of the Year for the third successive occasion.

It was a fitting finale for the 15-year-old South Grafton High student's final year in Little Athletics.

Attwater, a 2004 Daily Examiner Sports Star of the Week, has logged some tremendous performances not only in Little Athletics but at State and National levels.

He won bronze in the 1500m walk at the State titles in 2003, gold in 2004 and silver this year.

Attwater was also sixth at this year's All Schools National titles 3000m walk.

Apart from his pet walking events, Attwater is also proficient at javelin and the 1500m and 3000m run.

"Cody is continuing to train for the athletics season starting in September," Attwater's mother Pam said.

"He enjoys his sport and hopes to qualify for the CHS and All Schools championships later this year."

Attwater's younger brother Andrew, 13, was named Grafton Little Athletics, high jumper of the year.

Andrew, who also competes in the 1500m walk and 3km run, has already been to state level and hopes to improve his performances in future years.
