Local hero?s preparations complete

LOCAL hero Starlactic emerged from his final, fog-bound gallop at Grafton on Saturday morning with flying colours.

"It's all systems go for the Ramornie now," delighted trainer Wayne Lawson said in preparation for Wednesday's $125,000 Black Toyota Ramornie (1200m).

"He worked really good and, importantly, pulled up well."

Starlactic will carry the hopes of locals and dreams of the four-year-old's trainer and band of local owners in the prestigious Listed event.

"He was let down over the final 600m and I was really happy with the way he stretched out," Lawson said.
