Man assaulted in robbery

Police are searching for three men following an aggravated break, enter and steal in Yamba.

About 10.30pm on Monday, a man woke to a noise in his lounge room. Police said that when he went to investigate, he was confronted by three intruders wearing balaclavas.

"The 52-year-old Yamba man was punched in the face while the three men demanded cash," police said.

"The trio left the house with a sum of cash and cigarettes after again punching the man and knocking him to the floor.

"He was taken to Maclean and District Hospital for treatment of bruising and facial lacerations. He was later released."

A crime scene was established and investigations are continuing.

One of the men police would like to speak with is described as being 183cm tall, with a skinny build. He was last seen wearing bone coloured trousers and a black balaclava.

The other two men were last seen wearing shorts and black balaclavas.
